Congress Watch

John Boehner is apparently in line to get some important support from Ray LaHood (R IL-18), a key instate ally of Denny Hastert's. Implication being that Hastert's backing Boehner rather than Missourian Roy Blunt. According to most ideological ratings, the two are different with LaHood standing closer to the middle than Boehner (who is in turn similar to Blunt). But despite their surface similarities, it seems that Boehner has claimed the middle position, one that's less than popular in the GOP caucus I suspect. Perhaps that's why Hastert refuses to move up the election - to give his chosen candidate more time to garner the necessary support.
